8 Key Elements to a Modern and Effortlessly Eclectic Bedroom

So I was browsing Houzz the other day and stumbled across an awesome Australian based retailer/styling firm by the name of Fenton & Fenton, instantly I was in awe and ultimately inspired by their gorgeous selection of decor, home wares and beautifully styled bedrooms (although all of the rooms featured were stunning, it was the bedrooms that really caught my eye!).

Eclectic and modern, featuring bold pops of color, gorgeous artwork and tons of texture, each bedroom had its own unique look and feel yet somehow each of them looked deceptively similar. It took me a few minutes, but I eventually realized that each beautifully styled Fenton & Fenton bedroom contained the same 8 key elements and it was these 8 elements that ultimately pulled the entire “modern yet effortlessly eclectic bedroom” look together!

So without further ado here they are…

Element 1 – Oversized statement artwork above the bed

With a few smaller pieces surrounding it.

Element 2 – A padded headboard

In tactile velvet and rich jewel tones.

Element 3 – A footstool or bench at the end of the bed

Element 4 – 3 bold throw pillows

2 contrasting pillows and 1 textured pillow in colors that feature in the artwork above the bed.

Element 5 – A throw blanket at the end of the bed

In a color that contrasts with the duvet color and/or in a color that coordinates with the headboard and artwork – layers are key.

Element 6 – Proportionate side tables with a swing-arm style lamp on 1 or both sides

Element 7 – Beautiful blooms

On one of the side tables in a color that coordinates with the pillows and artwork.

Element 8 – An understated rug at the foot end of the bed

In a color/pattern that complements (but does not compete with) the statement artwork above the bed.

I think that’s it! Once you see them, you can’t un-see them right?! It makes perfect sense when you think about it.
